Umsobomvu Youth Fund
Business Development Services & Voucher Programme
Introduction:
Umsobomvu Youth Fund was established by
the South African government and has been operational since
January 2001. It is the single largest investment that the
government has made to address the youth unemployment
challenge in South Africa.
Mandate: To facilitate and promote the
creation of jobs and skills development for
South African young people (18-35). The role of
Umsobomvu Youth Fund (UYF) is to make strategic
investments that can facilitate opportunities
for young people to acquire skills, to access
job opportunities and/or create meaningful
employment for themselves by creating viable
small businesses.
Entrepreneurship: The Youth Entrepreneurship Programme
is a key strategy of
Umsobomvu Youth Fund. The aim of the
programme is to enhance the participation of young people in
the mainstream of the economy by helping them access
sustainable business opportunities through finance and
business development services. It will achieve this by
working in partnership with intermediary organisations that
are already active in the Small Micro and Medium Enterprises
(SMME) sector.
Objectives of the Voucher Programme

To create a conductive environment for
youth entrepreneurs (ages 18 – 35) to access relevant
technical assistance and managerial support for their
businesses

To empower youth entrepreneurs by providing them with
means to purchase the technical assistance and
managerial support that they need

To
support the creation of sustainable and competitive
youth owned enterprises that are active in growth
oriented sectors of the South African economy.

We are authorised to offer the following services to
Umsobomvu clients via the Voucher programme:

Branding and Design of Business Forms:
(Letterheads, Complementary Slips, Business cards,
Invoice Books, Brochures & Presentation folders) You
pay R200, Umsobomvu pays R4800) (Code:

Website Development, Design & Hosting:
(Domain
Name Registration, email address, website, hosting for 1
year) (Your pay R200, Umsobomvu pays R6300) (Code: VP 11000)
Who can apply for this funding
(this is not a loan and
does not have to be repaid, but is a once-off)
What is it going to cost me?
You are required to pay R200 per vouchers/service to us and
Umsobomvu Youth Fund will
fund the rest.
How can I apply for these grants/support?

Have a completed
application form with your RSA Green
Bar-coded ID book
-
Secure an
appointment with a
Umsobomvu Youth Fund Agent for application
assessment & approval.

Upon approval of
application, select TALE Marketing Services as your
preferred service provider.

Pay required
R200.00 contribution per voucher required to the us.
- Receive Invoice/receipt or
deposit slip from us and present it to your Umsobomvu
Agent.

Setup a meeting
with us to discuss your project/business and completion
of Umsobomvu forms. We are in Cape Town CBD every
Wednesday at the Umsobomvu/The Business Place. Please
make an appointment by contacting our offices.
